Eliza Reinhardt was born and raised in Iowa City, Iowa. She graduated with a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Painting and Drawing in 2018 from The University of Iowa. She is currently living and working in Philadelphia, PA.

Her paintings explore themes of self discovery, reclamation and memory. The sedimentary addition and subtraction of paint functions both as a literal and metaphorical archaeology of memory. Faces are fragmented, broken, and hidden; ambiguous, but sincere. A violent collision between her own physicality, paint, and image, the resulting canvases house a rich eruption of painting - a record of re-genesis of oneself.

The fabric portrait work stemmed from the Covid-19 pandemic and has continued on for four years. These portraits work to break the boundary of ‘fine art’ allowing it to be more approachable to the general public. The goal of this work is to share the works of under recognized artists, specifically female, POC, LGBTQIA+ and more by using their works as inspiration for the fabric portraits - the works are then shown side by side with a small blurb talking about the original artist, telling their story and hopefully allowing them some of the well deserved space they did not recieve in their prime.
